We are delighted to announce new training sessions for the new National Junior Men’s Volleyball Programme - details as follows.
Who can apply: Irish boys between 14 to 18 years old with big interest in Volleyball (Beginners are welcome)
Venue: St Brigid's Vocational School, Cross Street, Loughrea (Co-Galway)
Date: Saturday, July 10th - Volleyball Training
Time: 11.00 am to 2pm
Venue: Streete Sports Centre (Co-Westmeath)
Date: Saturday, July 24th - Volleyball Training in the morning and friendly match in the afternoon
Time: 10.00 am to 5pm
Venue: PEC Queens University (Belfast)
Date: Saturday, July 31th - Two matches against Northern Ireland Junior Squad
Time: 11.00 am to 5pm
Venue: Croom Sports Centre (Co-Limerick)
Date: Sunday, August 8 - Volleyball Training in the morning and friendly match in the afternoon
Time: 10.00 am to 5pm
One or two extra dates could be added later, but this is the main schedule for the junior players this summer.
In the aim to develop their potential, few junior players might be invited for a senior session at some stage during the summer.
Players, What you will need:
o Training gear - volleyball shoes, etc.
o Black or navy t-shirts for the morning and a couple of white t-shirts for the afternoon
o (at least) 1 litre of water
o 1 bottle of sports drink (i.e. Lucozade, fruit juice)
o Small snack (i.e. carbohydrates: dry fruits, nuts, fig roll) to take between the drills
o A light lunch for the break
o A rope (i.e. skipping/jump rope)
This opening session is merely ice-breakers for players to meet the programme staff and other players, to have confidence in playing and mixing with other players, - performance will not be judged in anyway.
