Senior B Boys Final

Mountmellick Community School vs Piper's Hill College

On Thursday, 10th December, Mountmellick Community School (LAOIS) and Piper's Hill College (NAAS) competed against eachother in Senior Boys B Volleyball Final. Piper's Hill made a fantastic start to the game winning points for their team within a minute of the first set. Mountmellick followed as they also began to earn points but remained behind until the end of the first set, which they won 25-23, two points ahead of Piper's Hill College.
After team talks, Piper's Hill made a comeback in the second set taking the lead. Both teams showed great signs of determanation and concentration making this second, and final set of the game rather tense. Both team's scores continued to rise and the player's levels of strength grew. Piper's Hill College made The game very difficult and took the lead for various parts of the match, but Mountmellick faught hard and finished this set again at 25-23. This made Mountmellick Community School the winners, and gold medalists with a wonderful score of 50-46. Piper's Hill College's player '9' was the game's well deserved Player Of The Match.

Senior C Girls Final

Mary Immaculate Secondary School vs St.Brigid's Convent Of Mercy

Mary Immaculate Secondary School,Lisdoonvarna, (Co.Clare) competed against St.Brigid's Convent Of Mercy,Tuam (Co.Galway) on the 10th December, in the Senior Girls C Volleyball Final. The first set got off to a great start with Mercy,Tuam taking the lead. Mary Immaculate,Lisdoonvarna's score increased but stayed slightly behind the opposing team. Mercy,Tuam's continuous efforts payed off as the set finished at 25-15.
In the second set, Mary Immaculate,Lisdoonvarna made a great comeback and took the lead for some time during this set. This set was very exciting and all players showed excellent efforts which kept both scores really close together. Throughout this match each team took the lead more than once and won their rights to serve. However, Mercy,Tuam faught hard and won this set 25-11, making them the winners of the match with the final score of 50-36.
