Garda Vetting Legislation Update   30/11/2017

A very important update for all registered clubs who have juvenile
members and/or members who are considered to be vulnerable adults. There
is new Garda Vetting legislation coming in to effect as of December 31st
2017. Please see below;

_ _

_"Under the terms of the N__ational Vetting Bureau (Children and
Vulnerable Persons) Acts, 2012-2016 ("the Acts"),_ [1]_ all persons who
are employed in positions where they have regular access to children and
vulnerable persons must be vetted by the National Vetting Bureau._
_Section 21 of the Acts provides that it is an offence for an employer
to employ a person who works with children or vulnerable persons where
an application for vetting has not been submitted to the National
Vetting Bureau for that person by 31 December 2017."_

Therefore, all clubs need to ensure that anyone in their club working
with juveniles/vulnerable adults on a regular basis must be Garda Vetted
through Volleyball Ireland before December 31st 2017

Please note, you must be a Volleyball Ireland Member to be vetted through Volleyball Ireland.

Further information on
the Garda Vetting process and documents can be found at the following link;
If a Garda vetting applicant is aged 16 or 17, the documentation must be accompanied by a Parental/Guardian Consent form (NVB 3).

Those who have been vetted prior to 1st January 2015 are due to be re-vetted as per the National Vetting Bureau guidelines. If you are unsure if you have been vetted or due to re-do it contact, Norma on 01 670 7165 or at
