Refereeing - Courses

As part of our continued drive to improve refereeing standards and support referees across Ireland, we are hosting our next referees refresher course in Cork on March 11th. All referees are required to attend a refresher course once every 3 years. This is the 2nd course to be held - the 1st was very well received and had great attendance.

The format is outlined below.

12:00 - 2:00 Netforce versus Santry (Shield QF) - referees attend, watch and observe officials

2:00 - 2:30 Q&A about the match with officials

2:30 to 4:00 Referees in attendance referee friendly match and receive feedback

4:00 to 5:15 Refresher course material (theory)

5:15 to 5:45 Refresher exam (closed book)

5:45 to 6:00 Run through exam answers

6:00 - Final Q&A

6:30 - Finish.

Note - referees do not have to be there from 12. Official course start time is 2:30.

The course cost is not decided yet but the only costs to be covered are halls costs so the attendance cost is likely to be low (approx €10-15 or less depending on how many people attend).

It has been very difficult to find a day for this refresher and we understand that many referees may be involved in other games that day but encourage as many as possible please to make it in the area. Having the friendly match to practice and receive feedback at is an added bonus to this course that was not done in Dublin.

I will be travelling down on Sunday morning if anyone from Dublin or en route needs a lift.

Please email if you wish to attend.
