VAI Intermediate & Junior Championships 2008/09

April 4th & 5th, UCD Sports Centre, Belfield, Dublin 4

Rules and Regulations 
FIVB rules apply unless otherwise indicated. 
No  time outs or substitutions allowed in the last two minutes of a timed set. 
One time-out per timed set
Full uniform must be worn on both days. N.B. Two points will be awarded to the opposition team at the start of the first set for each infringement
Teams not ready to start on time will forfeit the set (25-0)
Score sheets to be brought to the organisation desk by the winning team.
Warm-up time is not given so this is the responsibility of each team.
Only players registered on the player team list can play in the competition and only with the team they are registered with.
When officiating, teams must provide a 1st and 2nd referee and a scorer. If the VAI have provided referees, only a 1st referee has been provided and therefore, a 2nd ref and scorer must be provided.
Saturday Matches
Matches will be 2 sets, up to 25 points [winning by two clear points] but lasting a maximum of 10 minutes per set. 
If the time buzzer (for 10 minutes) sounds during a rally, the rally should be completed.
There is ONLY 4 minutes between matches, it is up to the teams playing how they use this time.
Team to serve is determined by the first team written on the scoresheet
Teams score 1 Pool Point for each set won (1/2  Pool Point for a drawn set).
Placing in the pool will be decided by (in order):
Pool Point
Points difference (points scored – points against totalled over all games in pool)
Points for
Points against
Points for in game between the two drawing teams,
Coin toss.
 
Mens competition:
Mens - Intermediate:Top 8 to intermediate qtrs, winners to intermediate semi and 4 losers to junior quarters is this fair to junior championship teams
       
 Junior: Bottom 4 to quarters to play the losers of intermediate qtrs 
 
Womens competition:
Womens -  Intermediate:Top 8 to intermediate qtrs, winners to intermediate semi and 4 losers out 
Junior: Bottom 7 - top team bye to semi and play 3 quarter finals 
                 
All matches are two 12 minute sets
Except:
Junior final - untimed - best of 3 sets
Intermediate finals - untimed - best of 5 sets
